Snyder Family Photos - Tower Grove Park

August 29, 2008

A few of our favorite clients called us to do another family shoot for them. Brenda who is one of my good friends had a chance to get all the kids together for the first time in a while. Derrick her oldest son now lives in Texas with his girlfriend Amanda. Chelsey is the middle child who has a voice thats as pretty as she is. Her youngest son Gage is a doll. Such a great kid sweet and full of personality. Here are a few photos of one of our favorite families.

New England Trip Day 3 - Block Island, RI

August 24, 2008

Sorry Dan and I didn’t post yesterday. We had to get up at the crack of dawn to get our spot in line for our flight. So that makes the 3rd morning in a row that I’ve been up before I am happy with.  So we got back in good ole STL about 10 a.m. Went to my mom’s to pick up Parker (our puppy) and headed home for a nice long nap before poor Dan headed out to work!

These photos are of our day on Block Island. This is a beautiful island not to far from Martha’s Vineyard. The scenery was breath taking and we took a million photos. Here are a few of our favorites.

This was our transportation on the island. They revoked my scooter license after taking a bit of a spill during a training session. It was decided that Dan would be my chauffeur.

I would highly recommend Block Island. If your planning a trip to New England this is a must see spot!

New England Trip Day 2 - Warwick Ri, Ghost Hunters, and Newport

August 22, 2008

We decided to pop into Warwick, RI today to see the legendary home of the Ghost Hunters. We enjoy the show and thought it would be fun to get some shots of their new headquarters. We were hoping to catch some shots of the TAPS members (would that make us paparazzi???) but no such luck! Still, it was fun. Here’s some shots we took in front of their new digs…

img_7798 New England Trip Day 2 - Warwick Ri, Ghost Hunters, and Newport

Newport Ri is a really nice area. We went to the historic Fort Adams site. We took tons of pix of the fort but we decided on this one because it showed the beautiful ocean beyond the gate. Too pretty!

img_7849 New England Trip Day 2 - Warwick Ri, Ghost Hunters, and Newport

After the beautiful tour of Fort Adams we went to downtown Newport, RI. Talk about shopping heaven!!! We had lunch at a beautiful place right on the water and this was our view.

img_7881 New England Trip Day 2 - Warwick Ri, Ghost Hunters, and Newport

After this amazing place we went on to our favorite beach so far. East Point Beach in Groton, CT.  This is minutes from our hotel and we’ve caught the sunset here every night! This is a private beach and its just amazing.

We will have photos up from Block Island tomorrow! Goodnight all~

New England Trip Day 1 - Arriving in Hartford Ct.

August 21, 2008

This trip is a mid-season get away for Crystal and I. After an exhausting season of weddings, we needed a bit of time to unwind, so we thought we’d fly to New England for an extended weekend. The reason we chose New England is because when I was in the Navy, I lived on the Submarine base for 6 years and Crystal wanted to share in that part of my life. It has been a LONG time since I was here, so I was really curious about how it had changed.

We are excited about our trip but really tired. To catch our plane, we had to leave the house at 5:15am! We almost never see that time of the morning unless it’s from the night before! :)

We got to Hartford about noon, picked up our rental hot-rod and drove for another boring hour to Mystic Ct. Mystic is everything I remember and a LOT more!

new-england-trip-160 New England Trip Day 1 - Arriving in Hartford Ct.

We drove around my old haunts in Groton, New London, and Mystic. We couldn’t get on the Sub Base since I am not in the military anymore, which was disappointing, but we did go to the Submarine Museum.

We even went on-board the worlds first nuclear powered submarine, the Nautilus. That was a pretty cool history trip for me. While it wasn’t like my ship, the USS Kamehameha, it gave Crys a small idea of what submarine life was all about.

We went to thew world famous Mystic Pizza featured in the film of the same name and then ended our day as we watched the sunset at the Groton beach.

Well, we’ve had a busy day and we’re pretty tired, so it’s bedtime for me. We’ll put more on day two tomorrow!

Studio Time!!!

August 17, 2008

Several of our portrait clients wanted the high key photography style. So Dan and I booked some studio time and got some great images of several original clients. We also spent some time getting a few studio shots of Katrina and Devanne for their senior portrait portfolio.

Here is some of our favorite images from yesterday.

The House on the Rock

August 4, 2008

We talked about this house in the first post about Wisconsin. Like we said its a house that is a macabre collection of collections. This is only a few of the photo’s and even photos can’t do it justice but we tried. Here is a link to the website http://www.thehouseontherock.com/

You really should visit if you ever get the chance. Not to mention it’s literally one of the most scenic drives I’ve ever been on. Dan and I love to road trip, so we’ve seen lots of scenery! Just bring a good pair of walking shoes when you go… You’re gonna need them!

This is the view from the ladies rest room in the reception building. This looks like it will be an interesting day!

There were thousands of these old dolls. They even had their own 3 story carousel!

Our Workaction “work vacation” Road Trip Down to Chicago!

July 31, 2008

Dan’s family near Chicago asked us to come up and take family photos. They wanted a new pix for above their mantle. So we were both thrilled to go up since we’ve got a small break here in August between wedding gigs! So we took the laptop because we’re still working the wedding we shot a week or so ago so we can work all 5 hrs up and down!

So we get into Illinois a good few hours and this beautiful road appears out of no where. I insist Dan pull over so I can take a few shots of this glorious day. Here is a very insignificant road somewhere in IL that was stunning.

other-pics-001 Our Workaction work vacation Road Trip Down to Chicago!

Here is yet another shot. I was totally in love with this spot and wishing I had a couple to shoot on it!

My new favorite air freshener. I love Yankee Candles and this is my favorite sent. These new pump style air fresheners work great!

Yep after 5 hrs in the car I get a little bored. I noticed that the shifter has Dans reflection in it. I call this shot “When Togs Get Bored”.

other-pics-004 Our Workaction work vacation Road Trip Down to Chicago!

It was a great trip and Dan and I love this scenic beautiful drive. We’ve got the James Family pictures that will be up tomorrow. Plus we went to an awesome place in WI called The House on The Rock. It’s a very eclectic and unique house that is best described as macabre collection of multiple collections. It ranges from giant mechanical orchestras to a gigantic orca. With literally everything in between. You just have to wait until you see the pic’s.
