The Helming House – Herman Missouri

With the snow that was said to have come this past weekend Dan and I wanted to be prepared for our wedding this past weekend at Herman Hill Winery. With highway 44 and the weather peoples ability to predict how much if any snow we may or may not be getting we decided to stay in Herman Friday night just to be on the safe side.

We called and spoke to Lynn the owner of the amazing Helming House. I must say this rustic house right on the river which was completely refurbished was just amazing. The house was stunning so comfy and down right homey. We took a few photos of the house I must say if you’re ever in the area it’s a great place to stay you get the entire house it’s two bedrooms and has a great kitchen. All of which you can see below. If your in the area give Lynn a call!

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas everyone!

Crystal and I would like to take a moment to thank everyone for such a wonderful year. Even though our holidays are filled with family and food (way too much of the food part!), we still want to take just a moment to send you our best holiday wishes and we hope 2011 is even better than 2010!

Oh, and thank you Santa for my Canon 70-200mm lens coffee mug! Lovin’ it!

Happy Thanksgiving

It’s that time of year again. turkey, stuffing, raking leaves, football. Oh, yes, and lets not forget the most important thing to be thankful for… family.

Please take the time to enjoy yourself and those around you and most of all, please have a safe holiday

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Santa Claus, kids, and the St. Louis Rams!

This weekend, Crystal and I volunteered to participate in “Motion for Kids”. It’s a program for children who have been impacted by the legal system. We spent the afternoon at the Edward Jones Dome taking pictures of  the kids with Santa. It was so cool seeing the genuinely huge smiles on this kids faces when then saw Santa!

When one of the little boys Crystal was shooting replied to Santa after being asked what he wanted for Christmas, he replied… “a Nintendo DS and my family”. Crystal’s heart nearly broke in half.

Over 2500 children and their families attended the event and included sponsors like St. Louis Rams, St. Louis Bar Foundation, and St. Louis Bar AssociationCatholic Charities, Foster and Adoptive Care Coalition, First Book, Grace Hill-PATCH, and Midwest Litigation Services.

There was so much for the kids to do including  a book corner, and inflatable rock climbing wall, St. Louis Rams cheerleaders, music, and even getting to play catch on the field with some of the Rams players and awesome presents!

After we finished shooting all the kids, we packed up all the gear, we took a stroll around the football field before heading out. All I can say is WOW! The field looks a LOT smaller on TV!

We can’t wait to do it again next year.

We’ve been voted “Best of Wedddings”!

image005We’ve always tried to stay “under the radar” and out of the mainstream to allow us the freedom and flexibility to work with the coolest brides in the area. That’s why we were so shocked when Linda from “The Knot” magazine called us to let us know were going to be in their “Best of Weddings” issue for our region. We were nominated and voted best by brides around the area!

When Crystal and I started shooting weddings 4 years ago at the request of our portrait clients, we nervously said yes. After all, it’s a HUGE deal to be responsible for capturing a once-in-a-lifetime event for someone! Even after all these years, we still have the same feeling of extreme responsibility every time we shoot a brides wedding.

That’s why we can’t even begin to tell you how incredibly huge this honor is for us.  Thank you to our brides who voted; we honestly feel that we have the best brides to work with as well!
