Show-N-Tell

Colortouch Photography took part in it’s first bridal show yesterday! St. Louis Best Bridal had a show yesterday at Harrah’s and it was a smash. There were sooooo many people there. Upstairs in the main show area, it was packed! We ended up with an excellent space right at the front door of the casino where we weren’t all smushed in. We thought our “booth” turned out really nice. All it took was a really huge picture of Sammi! Here’s a couple of snapshots of our booth for you to gander at…

We met so many really great people and had a blast. We even had a chance to meet some other really neat vendors.

Thanks again for everyone who stopped by the booth and chatted with us. We would like to offer a special gift to any bride that books from seeing us at the show. We will take off an additional $100 off your package (excluding the basic custom package). Make sure you keep you official Colortouch flier you received when we met you! or if you registered for the raffle that will work too!

Stay tunned to the blog for the winner of the dinner for two from Mama Campisi’s. We had a great time at the show and hope you all did too. Give us a call so we can chat about all of the details!

Tea Time

Last night, Crystal and I had a blast with John and Carol Hurst at the Olde Town Spice Shoppe in Old Town St. Charles. John asked for some help in getting photographs of their products for the new website they are building so we said we’d give him a hand. They have a huge array of spices and teas and want to offer them online to their customers. IMG_4873They have such a awesome little shop that’s stuffed to the rafters with aromatic goodness. Crystal, being a tea lover, thought she died and went to heaven! John and Carol are so much fun and they really know their stuff and have the incredible selection of products to prove it. IMG_4884 Be sure to check them out. The website is www.oldtownspices.com or you can email them at spices@oldtownspices.com. If you’re in Old Town St. Charles some weekend, make sure you drop in and say hi. Their open Mon-Sat 10:30 to 4:30 and Sunday noon to 4:30. IMG_4880 IMG_4876

Clean Colortouch Carpets

Just wanted to share a little with you today. Crystal is having a party Sunday so we called our favorite carpet and duct cleaners… The Griffin BrothersgriffinMike and Jeff are the real deal. The go above and beyond every time we have them come out. We can’t go on enough about them. From their "super vacuum" to the fact that they hunted down every cleanable carpet and rug in the house, they proceeded to deep clean  them. This isn’t some rug-doctor treatment. This is an honest-to-god deep clean.

Both Mike and Jeff are super-friendly and professional. Nothing is missed by these guys. They even emptied the waste basket in our bathroom while they were cleaning a small rug. Talk about above and beyond!

If you live in the St. Louis area and have a need for carpet, duct,  or furniture cleaning, then please give them a call. We give them the Colortouch seal of approval.

Revolutionary Road – A movie review

(NOTE – This review is only my OPINION. Take it for what’s it’s worth. Everyone has different tastes)

I want to preface this review with some simple self-analysis. My genetic make-up has predestined me to being a man. Yup, I’m a guy. And being a “guy”, I tend to enjoy more guy-type movies, but I am a sensitive “guy” can appreciate a good movie no matter what genre… even the occasional chick-flick/romantic comedy. With that said…

Last night, Crystal and I went to see Revolutionary Road. We received free passes from Scott over at wearemoviegeeks.com to the sneak preview at the Des Peres theater.

Scott and wearemoviegeeks.com are awesome!. The movie, however, wasn’t.

Revolutionary Road is based on a novel that I haven’t read, so I’m not going to make comparisons to the book since I haven’t read it, but based on the movie, I don’t think I’m going to run to Barnes & Noble tonight to buy a copy. The story revolved around a young couple who become disillusioned in the hum-drum “average” lives and yearn for changes.

That’s it.

Not a single car chase. No aliens threatening earths existence. No monsters devouring tourists in Japan. No adrenalin pumping gun battles. Nothing to interest a “guy” like me. Right up Crys’s alley? Nope. She was bored to tears also.

Leo D’s performance was pretty good, and I’m not even a real Decaprio fan. But Kate Winslet’s performance was wooden and mechanical when she wasn’t doing a heavily emotional scene. Many of her line deliveries made me feel like an I was watching an eighth graders performance. Even the love-making scenes were unsatisfying (for everyone on screen and off).

There were a couple of bright moments in the film that made me sit up in my seat instead of scrunching down into a movie-theater-sleeping-position. Michael Shannon’s performance of the insane son of the couples realtor was entertaining and fun. For a moment, I forgot I wanted to pull my brain out through my eye-sockets with a pair of rusty pliers.

Then his two scenes were done and I remembered where I was… and I contemplated suicide. After this experience, I’m going to stick to my guy movies with exlosions, space ships, and gun-blazing car chases.

I think I might have come to the reason I didn’t care for Revolutionary Road. I like to have fun. I am a fun person, and really enjoy doing fun things adn watching fun movies. The story in this movie is not meant be fun. It is meant to be a look into the souls of semi-realistic people and to portay their feelings and emotions. It’s not a “guy” movie.

Crystal isn’t a “guy” however, and she wasn’t enchanted by this movie either. We both give this movie a thumbs down. Now, to pop in my DVD of Caddyshack and get back to good, old-fashioned escapism fun!

A post NOT about wedding photography!

Suprize, suprize! Just wanted to share a little snapshot of our three lazy dogs doing anything they can sit sit next to Crystal!
