New England Trip Day 2 – Warwick Ri, Ghost Hunters, and Newport

We decided to pop into Warwick, RI today to see the legendary home of the Ghost Hunters. We enjoy the show and thought it would be fun to get some shots of their new headquarters. We were hoping to catch some shots of the TAPS members (would that make us paparazzi???) but no such luck! Still, it was fun. Here’s some shots we took in front of their new digs…

Newport Ri is a really nice area. We went to the historic Fort Adams site. We took tons of pix of the fort but we decided on this one because it showed the beautiful ocean beyond the gate. Too pretty!

After the beautiful tour of Fort Adams we went to downtown Newport, RI. Talk about shopping heaven!!! We had lunch at a beautiful place right on the water and this was our view.

After this amazing place we went on to our favorite beach so far. East Point Beach in Groton, CT.  This is minutes from our hotel and we’ve caught the sunset here every night! This is a private beach and its just amazing.

This pix was was just too funny. I couldn’t help but put it up. Talk about ironic!

We will have photos up from Block Island tomorrow! Goodnight all~

New England Trip Day 1 – Arriving in Hartford Ct.

This trip is a mid-season get away for Crystal and I. After an exhausting season of weddings, we needed a bit of time to unwind, so we thought we’d fly to New England for an extended weekend. The reason we chose New England is because when I was in the Navy, I lived on the Submarine base for 6 years and Crystal wanted to share in that part of my life. It has been a LONG time since I was here, so I was really curious about how it had changed.

We are excited about our trip but really tired. To catch our plane, we had to leave the house at 5:15am! We almost never see that time of the morning unless it’s from the night before! :)

We got to Hartford about noon, picked up our rental hot-rod and drove for another boring hour to Mystic Ct. Mystic is everything I remember and a LOT more!

We drove around my old haunts in Groton, New London, and Mystic. We couldn’t get on the Sub Base since I am not in the military anymore, which was disappointing, but we did go to the Submarine Museum.

We even went on-board the worlds first nuclear powered submarine, the Nautilus. That was a pretty cool history trip for me. While it wasn’t like my ship, the USS Kamehameha, it gave Crys a small idea of what submarine life was all about.

We went to thew world famous Mystic Pizza featured in the film of the same name and then ended our day as we watched the sunset at the Groton beach.

Well, we’ve had a busy day and we’re pretty tired, so it’s bedtime for me. We’ll put more on day two tomorrow!
